Summary Within the frame of the project, a research of the propagation radio channel parameters along with its impact on the network design and performances will be conducted. The centre scope of this investigation will be mobile digital radio networks, where the impact of multipath reception, mobility and other propagation factors is going to be considered. Satellite and other outdoor radio systems, as well as the radio links provided by penetration of electromagnetic waves from the outdoor to indoor are of the special interest. Exceptionally, due to the different set-up of particular radio networks, fixed radio links is going to be investigated also, for instance in communications and TV satellite radio systems or in the wireless transmission of energy, together with the suitability of fixed indoor radio links aimed for high data rates for application in wireless LAN or telemetry in variant multipath conditions. Accordingly, the microwave portion of the spectrum is of the special interest in this exploration, specially 1.2-GHz, 1.5-GHz, 1.8-GHz, 2.45-GHz, 5.8-GHz and 10-GHz band. For simulations of the multipath channels, the deterministic methods such as UTD and statistical models are going to be used. Measurements aimed for the channel characterisation or for testing the validity of simulations are going to be conducted by the vector network analyser VNA HP8720A, together with other measuring equipment (specialised antennas, amplifiers, generator, spectrum analyser etc.). Besides, due to the unavailability of direct measurements of particular channels such as satellites for example, surrogate measuring methods like scaled radio measurements are going to be applied.
