Summary The project Biomechanics of human movement, control and rehabilitation is a logical resumption of the heretofore research which had been successfully conducted in the past 10 years on the project Biomechanics of human locomotion, control and rehabilitation. In the past Projects title keyword 'locomotion', which limited the research to the investigations of the human gait, is now replaced with a universal term 'movement'. The reason is as follows: Over the past several years of the preceding Project the issues of human locomotion have become too bounded subject of research. Scientific knowledge, the development of methodologies, the ability to conduct the more complex experiments, the development of sophisticated measuring equipment and quality human resources in particular, contributed to the broadening of the scope of research interests, as well as the potential of the research of general human movement. Up until now, the results of the research of the movement of human arm and hand accomplished particular success. In accordance with the aforementioned results, research of the proposed Project would be extended to the following topics: 1) Modeling and simulation of models and mechanisms which could be applied to different human activities, 2) Analysis of the postural stability based on measurement of movements and forces in hearing impaired people, 3) Automatic analysis of sign language in static and dynamic configurations, 4) Computer vision for identification of human movement and anthropometry, 5) Advancement of the quality and implementation of bioinstrumentation devices and devices for telemetric monitoring of human movements, 6) Robotics, neurorobotics, and biorobotics, 7) Rehabilitation Besides, the proposed Project offers an important step forward in addressing the difficulties of rehabilitation process. There are already arranged joint experiments and research with the Department of Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Rheumatology of Split Clinical Hospital. And finally, the Project also considers the involvement with issues that has been investigated in the European Project EU FET Neurorobotics-FP&-IST-001917. To attain this objective, the foreign researchers and centres in Europe that have similar projects and professional experience will be joined to the Project.
